Men's Sheds

Community workshops where men meet to make and fix things together. The point is the company; the woodwork is the excuse.

Who it's for

Mostly men, all ages, often retired or out of work — but everyone's welcome.

Cost

Usually free or a couple of pounds a session towards materials.

Hours

Varies by shed — most open on set weekdays.

What actually happens

• You find your nearest shed and turn up, or email first if that's easier.
• Someone shows you round and you get a brew.
• You work on whatever's on the go, or your own project.
• Conversation happens sideways, over a bench — which is how a lot of men find it easiest.
