About Shaun's Button
Shaun's Button exists because too many men only find out what help is available when they're already at a 9 or a 10 — and by then the only number most of them can name is Samaritans. This site shows the whole ladder instead: what's there at a 3, a 5, a 7, and at the very end.
Who Shaun was
Father, partner, friend, firefighter. An all-round amazing guy, and hilarious to be around. The last one you would have expected. Dearly missed. Pink was his favourite colour, so it's the colour of the button.
Who runs this
It's run by Shaun's friends and family, not by a charity or a company. There's no funding behind it, nothing is sponsored, and no service pays to be listed.
How services are chosen
- They're UK-wide or widely available, and most are free.
- They can be reached without a diagnosis, and usually without a referral.
- They're run by the NHS or an established charity — nothing unverified, nothing anonymous.
- We list hours, cost and what actually happens, so nobody is bounced by a surprise.
